Ossabaw Island Tree #1 ©2006 Alan Schrank
In the spring of 2006 I was lucky to be able to visit the pristine barrier island, Ossabaw. A short distance from Savannah, Georgia, Ossabaw is not as accessible a many of the barrier islands. It allows only limited uses.
The south-eastern section holds an area with trees killed by saltwater invasion. This old oak stands in the Atlantic Ocean during high tide.
