<p>Along the road that runs from Mammoth to Towers is a one lane gravel side-road called "Blacktail Plateau Drive". It's takes you south and above the main road.&nbsp; There are great fields up there with isolated aspen clusters. I spent a few hours hiking there. <p>While driving from Wisconsin to Georgia I saw the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie marker on my map. I detoured having never seen a tallgrass prairie.&nbsp; Formed from the former Joliet Arsenal, there was more there than grass.&nbsp; I hiked through an area of partially deconstructed buildings. <p>I'm not what you would normally call a "Birder", but sometimes the opportunity is too good to pass up! While visiting my Mom in northern Wisconsin. <p>There was a construction staging site at the Sugarloaf parkway exit of highway 316 north of Atlanta. I'd driven by it many times always thinking "I should stop there and look around", but until this day I never had.&nbsp; There was a fenced area I couldn't get to, but in the open was some machinery and stacks and piles of rebar.&nbsp; This image is from one of the piles (not the stacks).</p>]]></description><wfw:commentRss>http://alanschrank.com/blog/rss-comments-entry-6442555.xml</wfw:commentRss></item></channel></rss>
