I don't make a lot of flower pictures, some but not many.  For thistles, however, I have a special place in my heart.  Saw this little fella when looking out of a 2nd story window, while shooting other things this morning. Went out on the balcony to shoot it, but wasn't happy with what I was able to get from up there with even my longest lens.  Made a point of trying again from closer after I had left the building.
